1. Rule out simpler fixes

2. Make sure Google Assistant is on

4. Turn off the Battery saver

It is also possible that your device’s adaptive battery feature hinders the ability to detect your OK Google. So, here are the steps to turn off the feature.

  1. Open the Setting of your mobile phone.
  2. Search the battery section.
    1. Tap Adaptive Battery, Then turn off the Adaptive Battery.

5. Update your Google App

6. Re-train the OK Google voice model

Sometimes OK Google is not working, because voice assistants need a touch of re-training to enhance recognition. Google Assistant is not any different, but you’ll re-train the voice model in the hopes of improved responsiveness to your voice. Here’s the way to re-train your voice model if your device has Google Assistant:

  1. Hold the Home button.
  2. Tap the compass icon on the bottom right.
  3. Tap your profile picture.
    1. If you have Google app version 7.1 and below:
      1. Tap “OK Google” detection > Delete voice model > OK.
      2. Turn on Say “OK Google” any time.
      3. Follow the steps to record your voice
  4. Tap Settings, then tap Assistant.
  5. Tap Voice Match.
  6. Tap Teach your Assistant your voice again, then tap Retrain to confirm Ok Google is not working.
